Fondazione Ebbbio, a Third Sector Entity (ETS), was founded by Andrea Wiarda and Stijn Vriends in 2021.
The founders decided to invest funds and energy in the future of Ebbio, a hamlet of Bettola in the Piacenza Hills, where they have owned a house since 2007 and regularly interact with local residents.
The hamlet of Ebbio is made up of around 30 buildings, some dating back to the medieval period, and is currently in a state of decline, with very few permanent inhabitants and many abandoned structures.
The surrounding lands are also only partially and irregularly cultivated for agriculture.
To secure a future for the hamlet and its surrounding lands, the foundation will renovate some of Ebbio’s buildings and support and develop cultural and agricultural initiatives in the area.
